In relation to the entry of the Act No. 506/2009 on Trademarks into the force from January 1, 2010, the Office introduced changes related to trademark applications proceedings. It was necessary to amend internal databases and all relevant documents used in proceedings on applications.
During 2010 the Office received 2,976 trademark applications, what represents increase by 4.5 % when compared with the previous year.
When compared with 2009, the number of domestic trademark applications increased by 2.1 % to 2,238.
In 2010, 2,155 international trademark applications were filed under the Madrid Agreement and Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement. It represents decrease by 25.1 % when compared with 2009.
Total number of registered national trademarks decreased by 25.8% to 2,299.
The number of domestic registered trademarks decreased by 25.6 % (1,662), the number of trademarks registered for foreign applicants decreased by 26.1 % to 637.
On December 31, 2010, there were 49.973 valid trademarks registered in the Office register.
