Outline of main policies and plans aimed at development of trademark information activities and expected time frames for their realization
In 2025, the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina continued to provide consistent and uninterrupted electronic services. The entire system integrates data from the IPAS administration system (covering trademarks and industrial designs), alongside dedicated databases for geographical indications (GI), copyrights, and patents.
In the calendar year 2025, the Intellectual Property Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina received 794 national applications (a 12.07% decrease compared to 903 in 2024), while national registrations rose by 5.03% to 793 (up from 755). Parallel to this, international trademark applications filed via the Madrid System experienced a slight uptick, moving from 2,659 in 2024 to 2,662 in 2025—an increase of just three applications.

Official application dossiers are maintained and available on the IP Office's website. The Nice Classification is systematically utilized for similarity searches, commercial examinations, and statistical reporting, with the translated list of goods and services publicly accessible via the TMClass portal (http://tmclass.tmdn.org/ec2/). Additionally, while the Vienna Classification has long been established in the trademark examination workflow, its operational integration into the IPAS system was formally implemented in September 2015; under this framework, a total of 463 trademarks were classified using the Vienna Classification in 2025.
Beyond traditional marks, the Intellectual Property Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina also permits the registration of non-traditional signs, including three-dimensional, sound, color and odor marks.

The Intellectual Property Gazette serves as the primary publication for trademark information. It contains comprehensive data for both domestic and international registrations, published in grayscale or color techniques as required. The gazette explicitly details key chronological and legal data—such as registration and filing dates, application and registration numbers, expected expiration dates, and priority claims under the Paris Convention or exhibitions. Furthermore, it encompasses specific trademark parameters, including the Nice Classification list of goods and services, disclaimers, descriptions of color claims, the nature of the mark, its visual reproduction, and the official names and addresses of both the holder and their designated representative.
The Intellectual Property Gazette, issued in accordance with the Trademark Law, serves as the Office's official publication and is released on a strict quarterly schedule (March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31). Since its integration into the IPAS system in September 2015, the trademark segment has been prepared seamlessly through this specialized platform. The complete digital archive is open to the public on the official website.
Gazettes can be found on our official web site: https://www.ipr.gov.ba/en/forms-and-publications/official-gazette
The electronic trademark register features complete bibliographic data, trademark representations, and real-time tracking of modifications, such as assignments, for both applications and registered marks. This public portal is accessible via the Trademark e-Register (http://reg.ipr.gov.ba/wopublish-search). For comprehensive examination workflows, examiners supplement this with the internal IPAS database, alongside international tools including Madrid Monitor and other global trademark databases.
To ensure public accessibility, the Intellectual Property Office provides external users with free online access to its core electronic services. The electronic trademark register is available free of charge at the official search portal (http://reg.ipr.gov.ba/wopublish-search), while the fully translated list of goods and services under the Nice Classification can be accessed via the TMClass platform (http://tmclass.tmdn.org/ec2/).
In addition to public tools, the Office offers trademark searching as a commercial service. Under this framework, 77 specialized trademark searches were completed and delivered to clients in 2025.
Legal status information is available through the Electronic Register of Trademarks.
