I. Evolution of registration activities
Changes experienced in terms of application filings and registrations with respect to the previous year
There is no big change in the number of trademark applications with respect to the previous year (an increase of 9% in the number of classes).
In 2011 - 8,807 applications were filed or received through the Madrid system in 15,513 classes.
In 2012 - 8,733 applications were filed or received through the Madrid system in 16,884 classes.

II. Matters concerning the generation, reproduction, and distribution of secondary sources of trademark information, i.e., trademark gazettes
Publishing, printing, copying techniques
Trademark journal is published every month only online, on our web site. The journal is prepared by the trademark department, by its computerized system. The journal includes information about trademark applications accepted for registration, as well as changes in registered trademark details.
Circulars and regulations issued by the Registrar are published in the Israel patent office website.
Full data base of Meta Data concerning trademark applications and registrations is available on our website.

III. Matters concerning classifying, reclassifying and indexing of trademark information
Classification and reclassification activities; Classification systems used, e.g., International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks (Nice Classification), International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Classification), other classification (please indicate whether goods and services for the registration of marks and whether the figurative elements of marks are classified by your Office and, if so, which classification(s) is (are) used)
Israel is a member of the Nice Agreement and therefore classifies the goods and services according the Nice classification.
There is no obligation for applicants to use pre-defined terms of the classification.
The ILPO uses WIPO's Goods and Services Manager to check the classification.
The ILPO also classifies figurative elements according to the Vienna classification (even though Israel is not a member of the Vienna Agreement).
IV. Trademark manual search file establishment and upkeep
There is no trademark manual search in the Office.
V. Activities in the field of computerized trademark search systems
Windows based application using Oracle is used. NT net has a separate server.
The application is fully dealing with all the administrative management of the activities in the trademark department.
Equipment used (hardware, including the types of terminal and network used, and software), carriers used
PC Pentium - 32 MB RAM, Windows 95, HP Laserjet 4000 printers, HP Color Laserjet 4500, HP Scanjet ADF- all connected by NT net.
Separate workstation with modem for direct connection to the Internet.
VI. Administration of trademark information products and services available to the public (relating to facilities, e.g., for lodging applications, registering trademarks, assisting clients with search procedures, obtaining official publications and registry extracts)
Search services are given by the department due to a payment of fee. Free search is available for the public using either public computer station at the office or the database appearing on the Internet.

Only registered users that have an electronic signature card can file applications electronically.

Promotional activities (seminars, exhibitions, visits, advertising, etc.)
Training courses are presented from time to time for the examiners or for the users.
The Office receives trainees from developing countries under the WIPO training program.

X. Other relevant matters
• Electronic filling service is available. E-filing is a very successful service, since almost 57% of the applications are filed in this way.
• The accession of Israel to the Madrid Protocol came into force on 1/9/2010. All communications between the IB and the Israeli office is fully electronically.
