I. Evolution of registration activities
In 2002, 620 applications for registration under national procedure were filed with Armpatent (806 application for 2001), of this number, 654 applications were registered (759 for 2001) and 27 applications were refused
1888 notifications were received under the Agreement of Madrid for international registration of trademarks with indication of Armenia (2442 notifications for 2001).
The decision was made for preliminary refusal of 500 international registrations (455 for 2001) and final refusal on 279(208 for 2001).
II. Matters concerning the generation, reproduction, and distribution of secondary sources of trademark information, i.e., trademark gazettes
In 2002, 4 numbers of the Official Bulletins “Industrial Property” were published: No 1 (21), No 2 (22), No 3 (23) and No 4(24), the last issue is in the form of CD-ROM. The bulletins were published in two languages: Armenian and Russian.
In the bulletins, data were published on 797 registered trademarks and service marks, as well as notifications on registration of license agreements and agreements on patent and trademark assignments (68 registrations).
III. Matters concerning classifying, reclassifying and indexing of trademark information
Upon registration of trademarks, goods and services are classified according to the 8-th edition of the International Classification of Goods and Services (Nice Agreement), and figurative elements of trademarks are classified according to International Classification of Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Agreement).
Applicants according to ICTS indicate the list of goods and services in the application for registration.
An electronic database is available on received applications and registered trademarks.
With the help of the electronic database, searching on trademarks is practically carried out on all bibliographic data.

V. Activities in the field of computerized trademark search systems
In 2002, the works were continued on automation and technical re-equipment of the Office. In 2002, the Office carried out the modernization of computers and programming devices used for examination of industrial property objects. Computers Pentium P 4 1.8 were acquired on exchange base of computers Pentium 200.
The second version of subsystem “trademarks” and “trade names” was elaborated for the information system of Armpatent. The subsystem “trademarks” is used under the regime CLIENT/SERVER. The subsystem dedicated for examination of trade and record keeping, provides:
- Collection of bibliographic data in three languages (Armenian, Russian, English)
- Collection and control of taxes
- Automation of record keeping
- Outlet of statistics
- Publication of bibliographic data
- Search of information
VI. Administration of trademark services available to the public (relating to facilities, e.g., for lodging applications, registering trademarks, assisting clients with search procedures, obtaining official publications and registry extracts)
Patent information of the agency is available to the wide public via internet (http//www.armpatent.org). The page contains the following information chapters:

The information is available in three languages (Armenian, Russian, English).
VII. Matters concerning mutual exchange of trademark documentation and information
The Official Bulletins containing notifications on industrial design subject matters are sent to the Armenian Research Institute of Scientific and Technical Information, the Fundamental Library of the National Academy of Sciences, the libraries of the Armenian State University, the State Engineering University of the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian Academy of Agriculture, the State Public Library and to the Book Palace of Armenia, free of charge.
According to the preliminary arrangements on patent information exchange, 21 copies of the official Bulletin were sent to the Patent offices of foreign countries, as well as to WIPO, EPO and EAPO.
VIII. Matters concerning education and training including technical assistance to developing countries
Two collaborators of the Agency took part in the International conference of young specialists on issues of industrial property, organized in Kyrgyz Republic.
