The IPO CZ continued to fulfil responsibilities resulting from the Czech Republic's membership in the European Union related to the area of industrial property protection. In 2024 modernisation of EU design legislation was completed and two legislative acts were adopted: Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Council Regulation (EC) No 6/2002 on Community designs and repealing Commission Regulation (EC) No 2246/2002 and the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the legal protection of designs (recast). The Czech Republic (IPO CZ) actively participated in the negotiations on the necessary legislative amendments to the European Commission's Implementing Regulation of the above-mentioned Regulation.
