In 2005 when compared with the year 2004, the number of trademarks applications from Slovak applicants decreased by 5,9 % to 2.739, the total number of national applications was 3.885, 4,3 % less than in 2004.
In 2005, in the international procedure under the Madrid Agreement and Protocol to the Madrid Agreement 5.128 applications for trademarks were filed, representing a decrease by 14,6 % as compared in 2004.
The total number of registered trademarks increased by 28.2 % to 4.296. The number of domestic registered trademarks was higher by 46 % (2.872), the number of trademarks registered for foreign applicants decreased by 3 % to 1.424.
On December 31, 2005, there were 43.499 valid trademarks registered in the Office register and the 109.000 international trademarks in the Slovak Republic.
