| BackgroundThe WIPO Digital Access Service (DAS, also known as the Priority Document Digital Access Service) is a an electronic system allowing priority documents and similar documents to be securely exchanged directly between Offices instead of requiring the applicant to request and forward certified copies of patent applications to support priority claims. The system provides for between participating intellectual property (IP) offices. The system enables applicants and offices to securely exchange documents, meeting the needs meet the requirements of the Paris Convention for certification in an electronic environment. These pages provide a forum for consultations on the Framework Provisions, technical specifications and related topics for the Digital Access Service. The DAS system is the responsibility of the WIPO IP Office Business Division (IPOBSD), working in coordination with the WIPO PCT Sector for questions relating to the IB as an accessing and depositing office. We invite you to participate in a brief survey on the usage of the WIPO Digital Access Service (DAS) to help improve understanding of its implementation and develop resources for applicants and IP offices. The Service is intended for use with documents related to patents, utility models, industrial designs and trademarks. | Expand |

| Traditionally, applicants have been obliged to request certified paper copies of documents from one office and then submit those documents to other offices. WIPO DAS allows applicants to simply request the first office (known as the Depositing Office or Office of First Filing) to make priority documents available to the System and then to request other offices (known as the Accessing Offices or Offices of Second Filing) to retrieve those documents via the Service. The exchange of documents then takes place electronically between the offices. |
