2. If the answer was "Partly", please explain your Office's/Organization's practice briefly:
For domestic process CIPO only uses the Serial Number (paragraph 5(d)), however within the WIPO XML standards CIPO will format the number following ST.13. It is noted CIPO does not use a year designation (paragraph 5(c)) however follows the 5(c) recommendation and includes zeros in its place.

SIPO has the corresponding standard which partly refers to ST.13, but not completely the same.
An application number contains 13 digits of numerals with one decimal point as separator.
year: positions 1-4;
code for the type of IP rights: position 5;
serial number: positions 6-12;
check digit: position 13

2. If the answer was "Partly", please explain your Office's/Organization's practice briefly:
Paragraph 5a requires a fixed length of 15 characters, with nine for the serial number. Our numbers have a length of 12 characters, composed identically to the standard, but with only 6 digits for the serial number.
Paragraph 5b reserves a numeric region for type codes of utility model related applications to 22-29. Our type code for topographies, which do not belong to utility models, is 22 instead of in the 30-89 region.
Paragraph 5d preferably requires a serial number of 9 digits. Ours has 6 digits. Furthermore, the control digit is not part of our serial number (nor of the application number), but separated by a ‘.’ after the serial number.
3. If the answer was "Not Implemented", does your Office/Organization plan to implement the Standard?
4. Comments (optional)
The standard came into force only a few years after all systems had been adapted to our new application numbering code. An additional change to our codes, in order to become completely compliant with the standard, would result in an enormous effort. As we do not consider the deviance from the standard as crucial for understanding our application numbers, no changes to our application numbers are planned for the near or mid future.

This Standard covers application numbers for all types of IPR applications, such as applications for patents, utility models, designs and trademarks. It does not apply to intellectual property rights such as copyright. An indispensable part of the application number should consist of the following three elements: a code for the type of industrial property right, a year designation and a serial number.
The application number should have a fixed length of 15 characters, composed of two digits for the type, four digits for the year and nine digits for the serial number.
Examples of application numbers:
Trademarks - 6 characters. (003040)
Industrial designs - 9 characters. (f 2004 0020)
Inventions - 9 characters. (a 2004 0020)

No, we are using different numbering for Design, Trademark and Patents and do not have, at this point, any plans to change it. Would require major IT development.

Example of the patent application number: PP 50010-2011
The digits before the hyphen indicate the serial number of the application and the four-digit number (two-digit until January 1, 2000) after the hyphen indicates the year of filing the application. In the example PP 50010-2011 – patent application filed electronically in 2011 with the serial number 50010.
