The expression "industrial designs" covers industrial designs and models. Offices which issue design patents should report their design patent information activities in this series of Annual Technical Reports.
I. Evolution of registration activities
Changes experienced in terms of application filings and grants (registrations) with respect to the previous year
The procedures of filing application, examination and patent granting for industrial design have not changed in 2010.
Trends or areas experiencing rapid changes with respect to the previous year
The total number filed applications for patent granting on industrial designs has made 133, that is more 66,3 % compare with the last year. It should be noticed that the increase has occurred basically due to the increase of activity of national applicants more than twice in comparison to 2009. The amount of the submitted applications from foreign applicants was reduced to 48 %. The share of filed applications by national applicants has made 90,2 %. And the share of filed applications by foreign applicants has made 9,8 % .
The most number of applications are filed on following classes of the International Classification for Industrial Designs: 1st class (Foodstuffs) - 34 applications, 9th class (Packages and containers for the transport or handling of goods) - 30 applications, 25th class (Building units and construction elements) - 19 applications, the specified classes have made 62,4 % from total number of the filed applications.
The number of the filed applications has made 91, that is more on 28,2 % than last year. The registered industrial designs by national applicants has made on 81, 3 %, that is more on 13,7 % in compare last year. The registered industrial designs by foreign applicants has made on 18,7 %.

II. Matters concerning the generation, reproduction, and distribution of industrial design documents and of secondary sources of industrial design information, i.e., official gazettes
Publishing, including printing, copying techniques and electronic printing
The SPO has published the following official publications on industrial design in 2010:
• official bulletin «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma» - 12 issues (on CD-ROM);
• publication sheets to patents for industrial designs - 91 publication sheets (on a paper);
• collection of annual indexes to the official bulletin «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma» (section of the index on industrial designs) on the electronic carrier.
Data on the registered industrial designs are published in section «Industrial designs» of the official bulletin «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma», which has published on CD-ROM. Data on industrial designs includes bibliographic data and image. Data on 84 industrial designs has published in official bulletins in 2010.
Main types of announcements of the Office in the field of industrial design information
The most important announcements, concerning activity of the office on industrial designs are available in section "Official Information" of the bulletin «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma» and on the website of the office (www.patent.uz).
Mass storage media and microforms used
The SPO has a full collection of patent documents of Uzbekistan on industrial designs on a paper. Patent documents are stored also in bibliographic databases and in electronic storehouses
Databases and office automation
During processing applications for concerning industrial design are scanned and saved in facsimile form in format TIFF. Descriptions and the list of essential attributes are distinguished by system ABBYY Fine Reader and kept in format MS-Word. Images of industrial samples are entered in format JPG, by means of program Adobe PhotoShop.
Collecting chapters of the official bulletin on industrial design is carried out automatically on the workplace of the employee of Publication Division. By specialized inquiry the bibliographic data from database (SUBD MS SQL Server 2000) and texts of documents (abstracts) are selected and sorted from electronic storehouse. The subsequent operations (page makeup, duplicating) are made by means of programs Word and Adobe Acrobat.

III. Matters concerning classifying, reclassifying and indexing of industrial design information according to the classification systems applied
Classification and reclassification activities; Classification system used, e.g., International Classification for Industrial Designs (Locarno Classification), other classification (please indicate whether industrial designs are classified by your Office and, if so, which classification is used)
Applications for industrial designs are classified according to 9th edition of the International Classification of Industrial Designs (Locarno Agreement). Other classification systems are not applied.
Bibliographic data and processing
Bibliographic data are saved in the form of dynamic XML-documents and in the internal database constructed on the basis of SUBD MS SQL Server 2000. Bibliographic data are supported and updated during life of the application by all departments, involved in process. Changes in base will be authorized. Interfaces of access to base are constructed on the basis of Intranet-technologies.
IV. Search file establishment and upkeep
File building
The search file on a paper and optical disks is formed on the basis of collection of the State Fund of the Patent Documentation, which includes materials on the industrial designs, containing the foreign official bulletins of 26 countries, WIPO and the incorporated cumulative editions on the industrial designs, prepared by INIC Rospatent; it is placed by a geographical principle.
On national patent documents are conducted the bibliographic database and electronic file (text) storehouses for internal use.
Updating
Search files on a paper and a part on CD/DVD-ROM are updated monthly, some CDs/DVD-ROM are updated annually.
Bibliographic data and files of documents in electronic storehouse on national documents can replenish and/or be corrected in process of the reference.
Storage, including mass storage media
Conditions of storage of fund depend on mostly kinds of data carriers: patent documents on a paper are stored in wall cases, photograph collection on microfilms - in boxes, on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM - in stores in wall cases.
Bases of bibliographic, office work data and file storehouse are stored on specialized a file-server on which with a view of safety reserve copying on an additional server is carried out.
Documentation from other offices maintained and/or considered part of the available search file
In 2010 the State Fund of the Patent Documentation has replenished with the patent-information publications containing data on industrial designs of 18 countries of the world and WIPO.
V. Activities in the field of computerized search systems for industrial designs
In-house systems (online/offline)
Within the limits of performance of works on creation of Internal information portal of SPO, the first stage on development of internal portal which is included preparation for work of a server, necessary installation for functioning of databases of operational systems and software (Linux, Oracle), creation of structure of a database of new system, is completed. Works were complete together with national developers of software of Company « National Developers ».
External databases
The followings date bases are used widely by examiners on the Internet: FIPS.ru, EAPATIS.com; and also searching system: Google, Rambler, Yahoo, and Yandex.
Administrative management systems (e.g., register, legal status, statistics and administrative support)
The full-function system of administration is in SATOZ, providing authorization, access to the information, safety, and management of the rights of users, groups and options of system.
Equipment used (hardware, including the types of terminal and network used, and software), data carriers used
The equipment: Server group (Servers HP ProLiant), network infrastructure (cable communications, routers HP 3 COM), workstations (HP Pro, DX series from the 5th to 6th generation), periphery (printers, scanners, photocopy).
Operational system: Windows Server 2003 Mode (servers SQL Server 2005, Excange 2003, ISA, IIS, server of reserve copying/restoration of the information), Windows 7 and Windows XP (workstations).
The applied software: SATOZ/Landocs, IIS Manager (external site www.patent.uz), base of bibliographic data of patent search system (PIPS), system of testing of knowledge, antivirus system “Kaspersky”.
Applied systems: "Norm" program system, “1C Account” account system, Promt 10 machine translation system, Lingvo 12 system of dictionaries, ORT-system Fine Reader, Photoshop CS2, office system MS Office 2003-2007 (professional), Adobe Reader 7.0.-9.0.
VI. Administration of industrial design information products and services available to the public (relating to facilities, e.g., for lodging applications, registering designs, assisting clients with search procedures, obtaining official publications and registry extracts)
Planning, administration, automation, security
The State Patent Documentation Fund of SPO is collecting the information on industrial designs and Fund is structural division of SPO and also practically has unique full collection of the patent documentation in territory of Uzbekistan. On the basis of State Patent Documentation Fund of SPO is carried out patent- information services for office experts and public.
Collection management, preservation
The collection of Fund includes patent bulletins with data on industrial designs of 26 countries, WIPO and cumulative collection of Rospatent (on separate classes), including on CD-ROM disks of 16 countries and WIPO.The collection is replaced on the countries and years. Acquisition is carried out on the international exchange, by way of a subscription and acquisition by own editions. The collection on CD-ROM disks is located in stores in wall cases.
Information services available to the public (including computerized services and search files contained in libraries remote from your Office and industrial design information posted by your Office on the World Wide Web)
The information services which are carried out under orders of consumers, including carrying out of the automated search on CD/DVD-ROM; classification on international classification of industrial designs; searching in the database of the office, consultation on drawing up and registration of applications for registration (including international) trademark; copying, selection and issue of documents by inquiries of users, and etc.
The information services which are carried out under orders of consumers, include carrying out of patent search, classification on International classification for industrial designs, consultations concerning drawing up and filling of applications, copying, selection and delivery of documents by inquiries of users, etc. In 2010 36 orders for patent-information services on industrial samples have been executed.
Granting of patent documents on traditional carriers is carried out directly in reading room at the State Patent Documentation Fund, which is equipped with electronic fund. The patent documentation and the information on industrial samples on optical disks are presented in the electronic fund.

VII. Matters concerning mutual exchange of industrial design documentation and information
International or regional cooperation in the exchange of industrial design information, e.g., in the form of official gazettes
On the basis of the bilateral and international exchange, the SPO has sent the Official bulletin of SPO «Rasmiy Akhborotnoma» with data on the registered trademarks to 28 countries and international and regional organizations as WIPO, EPO, and EAPO.
Exchange of machine-readable information, e.g., data contained on CD-ROM or magnetic tape
In 2010 on the basis of a bilateral exchange, the SPO has received the official bulletins with data on industrial designs from offices of 18 countries and WIPO (from its on 14 on CD-ROM disks).
VIII. Matters concerning education and training, including technical assistance to developing countries (please indicate URLs of web pages of the Office’s website wherever appropriate)
Promotional activities (seminars, exhibitions, visits, advertising, etc.)
In 2010 the SPO cooperated with Committees of Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic Uzbekistan in the field of preparation of the information-analytical materials and participation in sessions and seminars, in particular, in September, 2010 participation in conference « Experience and prospects of creation of the market of the industrial property in the country», organized by Committee on industry, construction and trade issues of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In this session the representative of SPO made a presentation on a theme « Condition of a legal protection of the inventions, useful models, industrial designs».
SPO activity in the field of industrial designs is a part of seminars, organized by SPO, in particular, holing seminars in 2010 for employees of Public Prosecutor’s Office of Republic Uzbekistan; specialists of the enterprises, institutes and oil-and-gas and a pharmaceutical industry; small and medium sized enterprises; the total of participants has made about 200 persons.
Information on necessity legal protection of industrial design is published in mass media.
Training courses for national and foreign participants
The issue of legal protection of industrial design was a part of discussed topics on lectures, seminars organizes by SPO, especially in universities; about 400 persons had participated in lectures.
