I. GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN PATENT INFORMATION ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE
Information on the following topics is desired:
In 2024, 96 applications were submitted to the Intellectual Property Office: 19 invention patent applications (19.79% of the total number of applications) and 77 invention short-term patent applications (80.21% of the total number of applications), of which 13 from national applicants, and 6 from foreign applicants, including 5 with applications transferred to the national stage through the PCT system. 75 of the applications for short-term invention patents were received from national applicants, and 2 from foreign applicants.
During the reporting period, 4 applications for obtaining an invention patent were published in the prescribed manner (in 2023 were 9 applications).
During 2024, 2 applications (in 2023 were 7 applications) for the examination of the merits were submitted to the Office.
In 2024, the Office received 5 Eurasian applications and delivered it to the Eurasian Patent Office within the specified period.
During the reporting period, the paperwork was completed with 101 applications, with 4 applications decisions were made on granting an invention patent, with 76 applications decisions were made on granting a short-term invention patent, with 15 applications decisions were made on considering the application withdrawn, with 2 applications decisions were made on refusal to grant an invention patent and with 4 applications decisions were made on refusal to grant a short-term patent for an invention.
In 2024, 7 invention patents and 70 short-term invention patents were issued, of which 5 invention patents and 4 short-term invention patents were issued to foreign applicants.
According to data from 2024, out of 4994 invention patents in the Republic of Armenia, 230 are active in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, 206 of which are short-term invention patents.

The office translates the titles and abstracts into English and Russian and reviews the titles and abstracts provided by the applicant (in Armenian) and, if necessary, amends them accordingly to WIPO standard ST.12 or in order to ensure that the abstract contains the necessary information to be a useful search tool. The claims and titles are published in the Official Bulletin “Industrial Property” and the granted protection titles are provided in 2 languages (Armenian and Russian).

1.Classification is allotting one or more classification symbols (e.g., IPC symbols) to a patent application, either before or during search and examination, which symbols are then published with the patent application.
2. Preclassification is allotting an initial broad classification symbol (e.g., IPC class or subclass, or administrative unit) to a patent application, using human or automated means for internal administrative purposes (e.g., routing an application to the appropriate examiner). Usually preclassification is applied by the administration of an office.
3. Reclassification is the reconsideration and usually the replacement of one or more previously allotted classification symbols to a patent document, following a revision and the entry into force of a new version of the Classification system (e.g., the IPC). The new symbols are available on patent databases.
