I. GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INFORMATION ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE

Statistics: 

Compared to 2013, the number of national design applications increased by 32% in the year 2014, while the number of designs contained in industrial design applications increased by  42% compared to the previous year. 
The number of design registrations increased by 10 % compared to the previous year, while the number of designs contained in design registrations increased by 165 % compared to 2013.

II. SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES RELATED TO INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INFORMATION CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE

The Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina has put into function new website, which is located on the same address

New site, with refreshed design, offers to visitors transparent access to intellectual property information, from general ones, that include brochures and publications, to those that refer to procedures of intellectual property protection, such are legal regulations and application forms.

III. SOURCES OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE OFFICE

Main types of publications in the field of industrial design information, outline of the content (industrial design applications, design patents, registrations, etc.) and medium (on paper, on CDs, online - URLs)

The Institute for intellectual property of Bosnia and Herzegovina , on the basis of Industrial design Law (http://www.ipr.gov.ba/upload/documents/dokumenti_podstranice/pravnaregulativa/Engleski/IP_Laws_and_Regulations_in_BIH/bih_design_law.pdf), publishes its official gazette: Intellectual property Gazette. The Gazette is published every three months, four times a year. The Gazette, in the part referring to industrial design, is prepared by means of computer, using an own (institute) computer system and applications. 

Lists of registered industrial designs are published 4 times a year in the Institute's Official Gazette on paper carrier and on CD-ROMs.

The Gazette is fully available free of charge in the PDF format at the official web site.

Information about registered and renewed industrial designs are also available on website of the Office.

Institute for intellectual property of Bosnia and Herzegovina Gazette contains following information on industrial design: Publication of Changes Entered in the Industrial Design Register, Publication of Industrial Design, Industrial Design Indexes by Numbers, Classification Symbols and Owners, Publication of Changes Entered into the Industrial Design Register, Publication of Corrections of Data to Published, Industrial Design Registrations, Publication of the Granted Industrial Designs Extensions Publication of Industrial Design Expirations, Publication of Information on International Registrations of Industrial Designs.

The information regarding published industrial design registrations is also available in the Office database containing public data from the Industrial designs register, accessible through the Office website, free of charge. A range of search options is available, including: Date of Application, Proprietor, Image, Locarno Class.

For now, Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina don't have international industrial design data on our database, but we plan to integrate that data on our system. Also, plan is to scan all industrial designs in searchable PDF, and published industrial designs data to our website ,when bi possible free of charge search industrial designs data.

General information on industrial design registration procedures is provided free of charge. It can be obtained face-to-face at Institute  (with our PATLIB centers (Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka)), by phone, e-mail or posted letter, and is also available at the Institute’s web site.

Industrial design's databases professional search services and registry extracts are available upon user’s request and payment. Standard industrial design search services include similarity search, search by owner and listing of bibliographic data

IV. ICT SUPPORT TO SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES RELATED TO INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INFORMATION CARRIED OUT BY THE OFFICE

Specific software tools supporting business procedures within the Office: general description, characteristics, advantages, possible improvements

We use software tools developed in Institute (SQL database, and user interface with MS ACCESS). 

• 20/10Mbit/s Mostar; 16/4Mbit/s Sarajevo; 16/4Mbit/s Banja Luka used for Internet connection, CISCO Network Equipment(LAN based on Fast Ethernet – 1000/100/10Mbit/s) 
• MICROSOFT environment:
• SQL 2008 R2 Express and SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise databases: Daily backup (full and incremental) is stored at NAS (Network Attached Storage). 
• Servers: Application server: HP Proliant DL380p Gen8;  Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, 64 bit, with 12GB Ram, 8 x CPU E5 - 2609 
• Database server: HP Proliant DL380p Gen8;  Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, 64 bit, with 12GB Ram, 8 x CPU E5 - 2609
• Workstation: PC Pentium IV with Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 8 Enterprise

Internal databases: coverage, updates, interlinks with external sources

All bibliographic data and images are stored in industrial design database.

Establishment and maintenance of electronic search file: file building, updating, storage, documents from other offices included in the search file

Administrative management electronic systems (register, legal status, statistics, and administrative support)
