The monthly official Bulletin "Oнеркесiр Меншiгi – Промышленная собственность ("Industrial Property") in Kazakh and Russian versions;
Certificates on a trade mark (in the Kazakh and Russian languages);
Scientific - practical magazine " Intellectual property of Kazakhstan ";
Regulatory-legal and instructive-methodical materials regulating industrial property objects protection (in separate pamphlets).

Main types of announcements of the Office in the field of trademark information

Announcements, advertising information are published in the Official Bulletin as well as in. the Republic newspapers, magazines and journals.

Mass storage media and microforms used

Used means of storage: a paper and optical storage.

Word processing and office automation

Techniques used to produce patent information (printing, recording etc.) arc an HPSSI network printer, a CD-ROM device for recording.
In 2004 development of the software directed on development of paperless technology has been continued at office-work and the control of financial streams over services of institute.

III. Matters concerning classifying, reclassifying and indexing of trademark information

Classification and reclassification activities; Classification systems used, e.g., International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks (Nice Classification), International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Classification), other classification (please indicate whether goods and services for the registration of marks and whether the figurative elements of marks are classified by your Office and, if so, which classification(s) is (are) used)

Classification and reclassification performed by the National Institute of the Intellectual Property through International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks and International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks.

Use of electronic classification systems to check the classification symbols furnished by an applicant and which are contained in the lists of goods and/or services

Electronic systems of classification are not used by the National Institute of the Intellectual Property.

Obligation for applicants to use pre-defined terms of the classification applied

Applicants use standard codes WIPO

Bibliographic data and processing for search purposes

The bibliographic data are used in patent search.

IV. Trademark manual search file establishment and upkeep

File Building

There is a file of the internal and foreign accessible trademark documentation and the legislative literature.

Updating

Updating of the trademark documentation is made on a measure of receipt on paper carriers or optical disks.

Storage, including mass storage media

Conditions of storage are defined by type of the carrier of the data (paper carriers or optical disks).

Documentation from other offices maintained and/or considered part of the available search file

It is used DVD-ROM ROMARIN by the National Institute of the Intellectual Property.

V. Activities in the field of computerized trademark search systems

In-house systems (online/offline)

The institute uses own databases on national fund and databases acting on optical disks.

External databases

It is used DVD-ROM ROMARIN and website WIPO.

Administrative management systems (e.g., register, legal status, statistics, administrative support, etc.)

National Institute of the Intellectual Property has the following application functional systems: filing, examining, fee paying, the State Register, publishing, archive and office activities.

Equipment used (hardware, including the types of terminal and network used, and software), carriers used

7 servers and 82 workstations are used: 2 Intel 2,6 Гг, 2 processors; Intel P-II, Intel P-III, Intel P-II, Athlon 2000.
The software operational systems Lunix, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
The computers are connected to the 100 networks by means of a twisted pair and controlled by the WINDOWS 98/2000/XP, on the Fileserver - Win2000, on the Webserver - Win NT, and on the Proxyscrver - Win NT.

VI. Administration of trademark services available to the public (relating to facilities, e.g., for lodging applications, registering trademarks, assisting clients with search procedures, obtaining official publications and registry extracts)

Planning, administration, automation, security

The National Institute of the Intellectual Property provides various reference-information services and copying trademark documents on the requests of the applicants.

Information services available to the public (including computerized services and search files contained in libraries remote from your Office and trademark information posted by your Office on the World Wide Web)

The institute has in a department of the patent information fund of trademark, help, instructive-methodical and other literature for service of experts

VII. Matters concerning mutual exchange of trademark documentation and information

International or regional cooperation in the exchange of trademark information, e.g., in the form of official gazettes

The institute dispatches the text-through information on optical disks in the Russian agency under trade marks and the Euroasian patent department. On the paper carrier the exchange is conducted by official patent bulletins with all countries CIS. The institute receives on machine-readable carriers the text-through information from WIPO, EPO, EAPO, Germany, Austria, Russia.

Exchange of machine-readable information

On the basis of the long-term agreements the Institute of the Intellectual Property makes multi-way publication interchange wiih the Patent Offices of the NIS countries. This publication interchange being performed using paper carriers and machine-readable media (CD-ROM).

VIII. Matters concerning education and training including technical assistance to developing countries

Promotional activities (seminars, exhibitions, visits, advertising, etc.)

On the requests of the Government organizations the National Institute of the Intellectual Property prepares various articles, papers, reports, reviews and recommendations.
The Authorities and leading specialists of the Office publish their articles, papers in the mass media (newspapers, radio, TV) where they explain the current Laws on the industrial property protection in Kazakhstan. For the same purposes the out-of-town workshops being held in the industrial centers of the Republic.
NIIP leading specialists were engaged in training in the sphere of intellectual property protection for representatives from various organizations.
In 2004, in the republic there were established four representative offices of NIIP: in Western region – Uralsk, in Eastern region –, in Southern region – Shymkent, in Northern region – Petropavlovsk to provide assistance to employees in representative offices, conduct teaching workshops and to provide with consultations for both specialists and all interested persons in the region.
At NIIP major departments there were trained 12 employees from oblast departments of justice and divisions of intellectual property rights.
Two experts from the same department were trained at the Federal institute of industrial property Rосpatent as follows: "Problematic issues of inventions' expertise", "Меthodology for selection of perspective inventions", "Changes in RST procedure". Upon trainings at the institute there were held appropriate workshops.
In 2004, 17 employees of the institute undertook and successfully completed long-distance learning at the WIPO World Academy.

Training courses for national and foreign participants

The National Institute of the Intellectual Property has its Refresher-Training Course Center, which organizes training courses, provides different consultations and seminars.
At the scientific-practical conference "Оn strategy of industrial and innovation development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kazakhstan" initiated by the RK Ministry of Justice NIIP representatives delivered reports on protection of industrial property objects, commercialization and their relations with innovation activity.
In 2004 at the republican forum of inventors and innovators of Kazakhstan organized by the National engineering academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan there were reviewed legislative, scientific-technical, social-economic aspects of increase in the effectiveness of inventors and innovators activity. Management of NIIP and leading employees delivered reports on actual problems in the sphere of protection of rights to intellectual property objects - inventions, useful models, trade marks and service marks, commercialization and assessment of industrial property objects, informational support for activity in the sphere of protection of industrial property objects and gave answers to various questions of the forum participants.
In August 2004 in Aktobe city there was conducted the workshop for employees from the department of justice on issues related to protection of intellectual property objects with participation of N.N. Sakhipova – Chairperson of the Committee of Intellectual Property Rights under the RK Ministry of Justice and specialists of NIIP expertise departments.
