The expression "industrial designs" covers industrial designs and models. Offices which issue design patents should report their design patent information activities in this series of Annual Technical Reports.
I. Evolution of registration activities
There were no changes either in procedures or conditions of filing and registration of application as compared to the preceding year.
II. Matters concerning the generation, reproduction, and distribution of industrial design documents and of secondary sources of industrial design information, i.e., official gazettes
National Center for Patents and Information published 4 issues of the Official Bulletin which also include bibliography and abstracts (the list of essential attributes) on industrial designs.
III. Matters concerning classifying, reclassifying and indexing of industrial design information according to the classification systems applied
Industrial designs are classified according to International Classification for Industrial Designs (Locarno Classification).
No activities have been initiated in reclassifying and indexing of industrial design information.
IV. Search file establishment and upkeep
The internal search file on Industrial Designs at present contains only the Industrial Design Bulletins of 14 countries and the copies of specifications of the granted Industrial Designs.
Industrial Design File of Center’s Scientific and Technical Library contains national and foreign industrial design documentation on paper and microfilm.
V. Activities in the field of computerized search systems for industrial designs
No internal and external databases are available at present.
Online thesauri is not used yet.
VI. Administration of industrial design services available to the public (relating to facilities, e.g., for lodging applications, registering designs, assisting clients with search procedures, obtaining official publications and registry extracts)
Industrial design documents are arranged in accordance with Locarno Classification, in the sequence of publication date and in numerical order and the other documents are arranged in numerical order.
New literature is acquired from the Central Library Collector in Russia.
Industrial design documents are housed in a local warehouse facility.
Foreign industrial design microfilm reels are maintained in cabinets in special storage facility.
The public has free access to the collections of the library.
No search files are available to the public except Patent library file.
The industrial design collection on paper form and microfilm is available to examiners of the Office and to the public in a reading room.
The library provides the public with the following services:
- bibliographical search at the request of customers
- making hard-copies at the request of customers
- translation of articles from foreign scientific journals and magazines at the request of customers
- new literature exhibition on different trends in science and technology
- consultation and general information services
These services are subject to payments.
VII. Matters concerning mutual exchange of industrial design documentation and information
Industrial Design Bulletins are received from 14 countries and, accordingly, our Official Bulletin is sent them.
The Center does not receive data on CD-ROM and does not exchange the industrial design information on machine-readable carriers due to the lack of technical facilities.
